I myself, enjoy learning new things and learning from my mistakes. Such as learning better ways to do things in 3DS Max, and once ive made a mistake, knowing not to do it again. Reflecting on what is the best way to create something. To me, this degree is going to allow me to go into the industry with the necessary experience, skills and knowledge that i will need. Having an all round good understanding and level of practise is important.
I enjoy the art aspect of this course as well. Even though i am not the best at art, and my work definatly isnt perfect, I still know where i am going wrong and what i need to do to improve it. I enjoy being taught how to draw properly, using perspectives and measuring techniques., Ive never been taught that before ive always just been told 'No change this bit its too big' or 'change this bit, its all wrong' Ive never actually been told properly how to rectify my mistakes. Which is what i like about this course. I also find the fact that we can just go and use any part of the Fletcher building to just mess around and experiment with what we are making. I have improved on my work since i started, and i understand all of the principles which Chris has taught us, i just need to keep practising it to get better! Practise makes perfect.
Even thought i dont like doing essays and i am not the most acedemic of people, i also enjoy doing the blogs. That could partly be because i dont have to wirte like 2000 words in one go, and because its relativly free, and im actually interested in what i am writing about. It makes it a lot easier for me having tha option to write as little or as much as i like, and being able to blog my random thoughts and musings, even if they have no connection with the course. It always adds a little bit to the fun of it all!! Its also good for me that we have one a week, keeps me on my toes and to me, i have learnt more doing it this way rather than one huge essay!

I would like this degree to be recognised on my part, and hope that it will help me become a brilliant Games Artist. Which level of the industry I would be happy with, is uncertain, whether it be just an artist, lead artist, concept artist or some kind of director. I’m not sure which i would rather be or want to work upto. But that will be answered once im launched into the industry and find out for myself.
The only 2 ambitions which i have, would be to get a degree to the best of my ability by working hard and with the tutors and finding areas of improvement, as well as getting a good job within the industry, where I am happy working and still enjoy what i am doing (for instance, im not sure I would be especially good doing a lot of paperwork and schedules for my employees! But hey i can learn! im not too bad!).
Reflecting on mistakes, and your strengths and weaknesses is an important part of learning. It helps you to improve what you could have previously done better and also allows you too concentrate on areas which you aren’t so good at, such as for me, perspective drawing! Communicating with tutors is a valuable part of this as they can see where you are going wrong, and help to guide you in the right way. Reflection of course, can also help with the planning of future projects. For example, not planning your work properly and falling behind or missing a deadline, within university, can have bad consequences, You can end up having 6 projects on the go when you are supposed to only be doing 3, for example, and then your overall work will suffer from this.
Heres a nice reflection image for you......
Just to make it look pretty!!Reflection is an important part of life, as well as an important part of learning. Student and people who take time to reflect on mistakes, weaknesses and plan ahead, tend to become more creative, more imaginative and more focused and successful.
