GameCity Threeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

OK so were all back from GameCity. Exhausted, cold and now have a small dislike for Trent students, but we have all survived.

It was the first (and most likely) last year of doing this for me. i was unable to go last year but i am glad that i have been given the opportuinity to steward this year. Even though the rota was tough and there was much work to be done, I still had a good time doing it.

The free bars on the Wednesday night and Saturday helped but thats not the point.

I was supposedly based in Gatecrasher for all three days, but that didnt work out. I think i spent more itme down on Market Square especially on the Friday. The Zombie thing went down a storm! It was amazing to see almost 1200 people standing in ther freezing cold looking 'dead' and doing the thriller dance!

I believe that the record has already been smashed but even so, we had it for a few hours anyway! Thats something i suppose.

It was nicer down on the Market Square as there was things goin g on all the time, whereas in Gatecrasher theres only a certain amount of things which needs setting up and taking down at the beginning and end of the day. I got as little bored inside i must admit.

It was nice to see people enjoying the industry talks and taking part in playing Rockband in the Square and getting thier faces painted and attempting circus tricks.

Everyone appeared to enjoy themselves whether it was us as Stewards or the general public. Some of whom naturally had no idea what was going on and seemed amazed when you explained to them what its all about.

I cant even begin to imagine how long it takes or organise an event like this and then how it feels when you finally see it happening and it all goes together. Allbeit sometimes nobody knew what on earth was going on or what to do, but then these things happen.

It probably could have been a little better scheduled but it was fun times all around all the same.

Barring the sheer cold and the rain of course.

It could have been worse, there could have been thunderstorms or something could have blown up.

I found that the portfolio sessions with the guys from Bizzare Creations were brilliant. I must have been there for a good two hours with other members of our course just chatting to the guys and gaining some tips about modelling in general, texturing and portfolio's.

Of course we cannot take what they say as 'God's Gospel' as we all know that you have to tune your portfolio to the company your applying too and they all lookf rod ifferent things. However, gaining another perspoective on whats good to go in a portfolio and what people wish to see was great!

It's time top start finetuning things a little bit to what i actually want to do once i graduate and make sure that people can see that from the portfolio i chose to show.

Speaking of which, im going to do some work on that now.....
