Looking at the internet about the good art bad art scenario which we are currently looking at, i was reading something written by an author whom i do not know the real name of, but goes by the screen name BrRice, and he has stated that in his opinion, the sole purpose of art is to communicate a memory a thought or an idea.

Giving this some thought, i realised that even if we do not realise this, it is in fact, most ways true. Realistic pieces which have been painted from reference do represent an image, a thought that something is beautiful and a painting is an attempt to capture this and share it with others.

A thought, those such of the surrealists are conveyed on canvas! Ok so admittedly they was on hallucinogenic drugs at the time, however hey still had a thought, and shared it with the rest of the world. Looking at their works of art, nobody can truly know just how those hallucinogenic drugs affected their brains as drugs, such as those, affect people differently.

It makes me wonder, 'What were they thinking to come up with that idea? What, when on drugs, was the trigger behind that initial thought?'

Its amazing how different your work turns out when you are drunk or high.

Anyway...

Back to the subject a little more.

Thinking of objective and subjective art.

Objective art is the fact, say knowing that the piece of art you are studying is is technically wrong.

Subjective on the other hand is the opinion. The opinion of who is looking at it.

Whether you look at a piece of art objectively or subjectively, it can still be wrong. For instance, Looking at art objectively, for the facts such as technical accuracy, there you have an immediate right and wrong to the trained eye.

Looking at art subjectively, this area depends on your personal opinion. If you like art which isn't a true representation of what you see then this will create a good, interesting piece of art. You might like the style of the painting itself, or the techniques used or the brush marks or general expression of the piece. Either way, to you its going to look good.

On the other hand if you do enjoy and like art which has complete technical accuracy then you wont enjoy the piece of art at all, even if you look at it subjectively.

Sometimes i feel that your subjective views on things can over-ride your objective views and vice versa. For instance if you just don't like the style of a piece of art, whether it is accurate or not you still wont like it.

Thats all for now folks.
